The route

While I won’t be able to cover all of Victoria, it is my hope I can cover the majority of the worst areas.

I’ll be running from town to town, spending my nights at either a local pub, or a friendly supporter. Sometimes these days will be a 30km run, other days it will be 50+kms. I have not allowed for rest days, and I’ve learnt through experience not to stick to schedule at all-costs, but we’ll see how we go.

From the MCG, at 10am on Sunday 26th January 2020, I’ll head west towards Dimboola, turn north to Mildura, turn east to Wodonga and then south to the MCG via Packenham.
As in my previous runs, I will be pushing a custom-made buggy, which will carry all of my gear, food and water. In areas where no accommodation is available, I will be camping. At this stage, looks like I will be camping about 7-8 nights.

Assuming reasonable weather and manageable injuries, I hope to return to the MCG Saturday morning 8th March 2020.

The reason

In December 2006, Founder Graham Cockerell, donated & delivered one truck load of hay which was distributed by Cowwar Toongabbie Lions Club to farmers burnt out in their area.The problem was that it was only 5 small bales of hay for each farmer. Graham returned to his home determined to round up others to help make a difference. Neighbor Barry Medwin, who lost his own wife & daughter in the 1983 Ash Wednesday Fires, donated the next semi load of hay & Grahams Hot Rodding mate Doug Hamilton suggested a Bush Fire Benefit which raised $23.000. A local paper then published a story on the events entitled NEED FOR FEED & so we were born!

Every year since NEED FOR FEED has raised funds for Fire, Drought and Flood Relief, becoming the major supplier of emergency fodder & transport, outstripping the State Government and Other Agencies combined.

The organisations is supplying the stock & animal feed needs of affected larger properties by semi loads & supplying smaller properties by ute convoys.

They continue to raise funds to support all farmers in fire, drought and flood affected areas each year as required as they struggle to rebuild properties and livelihoods in times of crisis and natural events.

NEED FOR FEED cannot do this without your support and assistance.

Please give generously so that affected properties can rebuild and be supported!
